Render Ahead/Behind (aka: The Bleepin' Buffering Game)
When you're sweepin' through songs like you actually know what you're doin', OnSong will render songs just before & after the current one. Sounds smooth, amirite? Yeah, well, it also means your iPad's memory is gonna cry a little since we're drawin' multiple songs at once like some kinda showoff. If your device starts wheezin', you can totally mess with this. Here's what we got:
- Automatic lets OnSong figure out what won't break your stuff. Normally it's ON unless your file formats are being total divas & we gotta turn it OFF for your set. Default. (AKA: "We'll decide for you, thx.")
- Off means only the current song gets drawn. Swipe to blank pages? Sure! But hey, at least your iPad won't sound like it's dyin' when you're usin' external files that aren't exactly optimized for OnSong. (Translation: janky PDFs.)
- On renders the songs before & after & STAYS that way no matter what. Full power mode, baby. Memory be damned.
Renderer Version (aka: Pick Your Poison)
OnSong's got TWO renderers 'cause apparently one wasn't confusing enough. Here's the menu:
- Original is the old-school renderer that draws external files usin' the web view thingy built into iOS. The web view expands to fit the whole document, which means MOAR memory usage. It's like inviting everyone to your party & runnin' outta snacks.
- New is the shiny new renderer that uses a different view component & handles its own scrollin'. Way better at the whole memory thing, but sometimes it has a meltdown on weird document types. Default. (AKA: "We think this one's better. Fingers crossed.")
Show Scroll Indicators (aka: Fancy Little Bars That Do Nothing)
OnSong's got like a bajillion scrollable panes to display your set. First, there's the horizontal one that lets you swipe through songs. Then there's the vertical one inside each song 'cause apparently we hate simplicity. By default, those little scroll bars on the right are invisible (outta sight, outta mind, amirite?), but if you're feelin' fancy & wanna see 'em, flip this switch on.
