Divvy It Up
Tap on a song section in the song viewer & boom—that section gets selected. These settings are basically what makes that happen look & behave the way it does. Thrilling, we know.
Color Schemin'
Wanna make your section selector a different color? Tap the row & unleash the Color Picker. Go wild—build yourself a totally custom color or just yeet yourself into our preset palette of see-through colors: Transparent, Red (the boring default), Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink & Grey
Selection Style (aka "How Obvious Do We Need to Make This?")
This option cranks up the visibility of your selected section like you're actually payin' attention. Pick one:
- None is for people who like playin' hide & seek with their selections. Selection visualization? GONE.
- Bar throws a skinny lil' bar on the left side of your screen. How thicc is it? Depends on your vertical position indicator's thickness. Science.
- Page highlights the entire section like some kinda ruler got dropped across your whole screen. Dramatic? Totes.
- Section plops a rectangle around your selection with slightly rounded corners, like it's tryna be fancy.
Tap Sections or Nah?
Here's the thing—section selection can totally hog all the clicks & ignore everything else you're tryin' to do. OnSong plays referee & decides if a section should even get selected. Your options:
- Never is for when you're like "nope, sections r banned in my house."
- Automatic figures out if the section deserves selection based on what's actually goin' on—like if MIDI or scenes are assigned to it, if lyrics projection is screamin', or if you're streamin' to the homies via OnSong Connect or OnCue. This is the default & OnSong's pretty smrt about it.
- Always selects sections no matter what. It's that simple.
Scroll Alignment (aka "Where Should This Live?")
When you pick a section, it usually scrolls into view automatically. This setting lets you boss around WHERE in the viewport that should happen. The song viewer will get as close as possible to your wishes (as long as there's room to scroll, obvi).
- Top yeets the section to the top of the viewable area.
- Middle centers it like it deserves the spotlight. (default)
- Bottom sends it down to the bottom of the viewport.
Scroll Under Menubar (aka "The Menubar Standoff")
In OnSong, the menubar & statusbar are just hoverin' up there above the song viewer like they own the place. This lets UI stuff smoothly vanish for full screen mode, which is cool. BUT—when you're pickin' sections, sometimes content scrolls RIGHT under the menubar & gets all hidden & rude. We get it. Pick how you want this to work:
- Never is for control freaks—content will NEVER scroll under the menubar. Ever. No exceptions.
- Automatic stops content from scrollin' under the menubar & statusbar IF the menubar is visible & fully opaque. If the menubar's semi-transparent tho? Content can flow under like it's no biggie. (default)
- Always lets content scroll under the menubar without freakin' out about it.
Note: iPhone users—this Scroll Under Menubar jazz also applies to that toolbar chillin' at the bottom of your screen.
