Document Scanner

Th' document scanner uses th' built-in camera on yer device t' capture th' contents o' documents. Yer camera be high resolution t' capture th' most detail possible, but this can result in large PDF files from th' scannin' interface. These settin's allow ye t' shrink th' size o' scanned document.

Downsample T'

Downsamplin' be th' process o' takin' a high-resolution image an' lowerin' th' resolution while maintainin' th' size o' th' file. Th' scannin' process can produce images that be higher than 400 DPI or dots per inch. Typically scan resolution o' 200 DPI be fine fer most uses.

Changin' th' target DPI will lower th' resolution o' th' scan if needed t' th' specified DPI. Options include 100-400 DPI as well as an option t' disable downsamplin'. Th' default settin' be 200 DPI.

JPEG Compression

Yer device stores photos in a file format that be mildly compressed, but be "lossless" in that th' quality o' th' image stays constant. This results in very large PDF files. If JPEG compression be enabled, OnSong will convert th' image t' a JPEG image with th' desired compression. This can result in artifacts if th' compression be too great. Ye can choose between 50% an' 100% compression levels, as well as turn off th' conversion t' JPEG usin' th' "None" option. Th' default be 75% compression.
