Drawin'

Th' drawin' annotation lets ye draw on th' screen. This be an in-app purchase that costs about as much as a highlighter pen, savvy? Once ye've purchased th' drawin' annotation, ye can draw on th' screen usin' th' draw bar.

Th' draw bar appears in place o' th' OnSong menu bar and provides tools ye can use t' draw on th' song page. Th' followin' be tools from left t' right.

Pan Tool

This tool allows ye t' scroll and zoom th' song viewer while in drawin' mode. This mode be automatically toggled if ye have Apple Pencil Integration enabled and ye touch th' screen with yer finger.

Pen Tool

Th' pen tool be enabled by default and draws a single, fully opaque line when selected. Ye can adjust th' size o' th' pen tool usin' th' size slider. If ye tap th' pen tool again, th' tool will be placed into ortho mode which will draw straight lines. Tap and hold on th' tool button t' open th' Ortho Threshold Menu. Th' default pen tool uses black ink at 3 points in size.

Usin' th' white color will act like whiteout t' cover over th' content underneath. Both white and black colors will invert if low light mode be enabled.

Highlighter Tool

Th' highlighter tool provides a larger, square drawin' tip that applies th' color at 50% opacity. If ye tap th' highlighter tool again, th' tool will be placed into ortho mode which will draw straight lines. Tap and hold on th' tool button t' open th' Ortho Threshold Menu. Th' default highlighter tools uses yellow ink at 24 points in size.

Eraser Tool

Th' eraser tool allows ye t' erase portions o' yer drawin'. If ye tap th' eraser tool when already selected, ye'll toggle in and out o' Ortho Mode which allows ye t' draw straight lines. Tap and hold on th' tool button t' open th' Ortho Threshold Menu. Th' default eraser size be 24 points and th' color picker be disabled.

Move Tool

This tool allows ye t' move th' drawin' back into position in order t' place th' drawin' if changin' th' content o' th' song causes it t' shift.

Size Slider

This size slider control allows ye t' change th' size o' each tool. Th' adjusted range be from 1 pt t' 64 points in size. Keep in mind that one inch be equivalent t' 72 points. Tap anywhere in th' slider and drag t' th' left or right t' adjust. Tap on th' left or right side o' th' slider t' fine-tune adjust by one point. Th' size be remembered for each tool.

Color Picker

This allows ye t' pick a color for th' selected drawin' tool. Th' selected color be remembered for each tool. Color options include black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown and white. Use white t' whiteout portions o' PDF files or when usin' low light mode. Ye can also create and manage a palette o' custom colors usin' th' Color Picker.

Undo

Th' undo tool reverts t' th' state o' th' drawin' before th' last tool, size, and color selections. For instance, if ye draw with th' pen tool and do not change th' tool, size or color, th' undo operation will remove all strokes that were made with that tool. By tappin' on a color again, changin' th' size, or deselecin' and selectin' th' tool again, ye can create another undo state. Each o' these be retained as layers.

Layers

Layers be created each time ye change th' tool, size, or color. T' create a new layer while drawin', just tap on th' color o' th' pen ye be usin', similar t' dippin' a pen in an ink well. This will create a new layer.

Layers be useful for drawin' annotations and then togglelin' them on and off for educational purposes, practice, or performance. Tappin' on th' layers icon will open th' Layers Menu, providin' tools for togglelin' layer visibility or editin' th' layers.

Redo

This tool be th' opposite o' th' undo tool and reverts th' state o' th' drawin' back from th' undone state. For instance, if ye draw a layer and tap th' Undo button, th' layer be removed from th' stack. If ye tap on th' redo tool, th' layer be restored.

Done Checkmark

When ye be all done drawin', tap on th' checkmark t' save yer changes and return t' th' song viewer and menubar.

When usin' an Apple Pencil, OnSong will automatically switch t' drawin' mode and choose th' last drawin' tool that was selected. This allows ye t' markup yer document without multiple taps in th' Annotations Menu. If ye tap on th' screen with yer finger, OnSong automatically switches t' th' pan tool. This allows ye t' draw without switchin' modes. Ye can turn off this in Drawin' Settings.
