Apple Camera Connection Kit

If ye be lookin’ t’ connect yer iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch t’ a MIDI device over USB, ye’ll need an Apple-branded Camera Connection Kit. This turns th’ port on yer iOS device into a USB port. These be typically used by USB storage like thumb drives and may not output enough current t’ power MIDI keyboards. If this be th’ case, ye’ll need t’ power th’ keyboard separately, or use a powered USB hub.

Choose a Camera Connection Kit from one o’ th’ options below that match th’ port on yer iOS device:

• Lightning Port t’ USB
  Lightnin’ be th’ small, reversible port that be used on most iOS devices from th’ fourth generation iPad t’ modern devices. This will not work on iPad Pro devices that use USB-C ports.
• Lightning Port t’ USB 3 (powered)
  This adapter be th’ same as th’ above, but has an additional Lightnin’ port which allows ye t’ charge yer device while usin’ th’ USB port. This will only charge yer device, not provide more port t’ th’ MIDI device.
• USB-C t’ USB
  If ye be usin’ a newer iPad Pro with a USB-C port, ye’ll need a USB-C t’ USB adapter like this.
• USB-C Multiport Adapter
  If ye be lookin’ t’ do more with yer iPad Pro like charge an’ output HDMI video, get this adapter instead.
