OnSong's sampled instruments — the pianos, organs, strings & brass in the Sampler of Questionable Quality & the Toneboard Thingy, & the kits in the Drum Rack (AKA Your New BFF) — all come outta SoundFont files (*.sf2). The Soundbanks Editor is where you peek at which ones are loaded, yeet your own in there, & pick which one gets to be the VIP.

Peep the Soundbanks List

Every soundbank that's loaded shows up w/ its size, how many patches are hidin' inside it, & where it crashed the party from:

• Bundled — shipped with the OnSong^® app cuz we're so helpful. The Standard bank is the General MIDI set the sampler uses outta the box, & srsly you can't ditch it even if you wanted to.
• Custom — a file you imported (congrats, u tech wizard).

Pickin' Your Fave Soundbank

A checkmark screams "I'M THE DEFAULT!" on the soundbank that everything plays thru. Tap any row to crown it the champion.

Messin' with Soundbanks

Wanna nuke a sound font? Swipe right to left & tap the Delete button that magically appears. Or tap & hold on the soundbank to unlock a secret menu where u can Rename it (fancy!) or Delete it (bye Felicia!). Bundled banks? Lol, no swipe action or menu for u — the Standard set is permanently stuck there like gum on a shoe.

Dumpin' New Soundbanks In

Tap the + button to hunt down an .sf2 file using the import menu. The file gets copied into OnSong's own storage (not just linked), so it travels w/ ur device & keeps vibin' even if the original gets yeeted or deleted. The list refreshes the nanosecond the import is done.

Sound Fonts can be THICC & licensed so they chill in app storage, not library storage. A 150 MB piano sounds absolutely fire & takes like... a hot sec to load the first time u tap it. They're importable like any other content, so u can open one from Files, Mail, or whatever other app ur rockin' & pick OnSong.

Follow Program Change (aka Let the MIDI Gods Talk to Your Sampler)

When this is on, a Program Change message from ur connected MIDI controller or a backin' track's MIDI channel yells at the Sampler's Family & Patch & forces it to be whatever instrument got requested. Turn it off if u wanna be stubborn & keep ur chosen sound locked in no matter what ur gear is screamin' about. It's on by default (u're welcome).
