Does OnSong require foot pedals to operate?
No. You can completely use OnSong by touching the screen. The song viewer offers the ability to scroll songs and navigate sets by tapping. You can also configure hot corners to perform additional actions. If you are a musician that uses their hands, you may want to invest in a foot pedal to make things hands-free.
What's the difference between using two-pedal and four-pedal models?
While other apps only let you flip pages or scroll documents with foot pedals, OnSong is completely customizable. Two-pedal models are more compact, mobile and may work with your setup. The four-pedal model offers more flexibility.
When using foot pedals, I don't get a keyboard on the screen any more. Why?
Bluetooth foot pedals are actually little computer keyboards with less buttons. When an external computer keyboard is connected in iOS, the on-screen keyboard is hidden. Some foot pedals let you toggle this keyboard on and off:
- AirTurn BT-105: On the back of the AirTurn BT-105 module is a red button that you use to power the device on and off. Press this button to cause the keyboard to eject, showing the on-screen keyboard. Once you've done this, you can continue to use the foot pedals and the on-screen keyboard simultaneously.
- PageFlip Cicada/Firefly: Press the "Current Mode" button on the foot pedal to eject the keyboard. This will show the on-screen keyboard. Once you've done this, you can continue to use the foot pedals and the on-screen keyboard simultaneously.
